Lattebella!

I just love using Amy's sketches to make cards, and this one, #45 is no exception. I have missed being included in her links this week because she changed the time (bummer) but I still really like the way it turned out! This is the first time that I'm using Lattebella from Stamping Bella, and I think she's great!


I did get some inspiration from Nancy's blog, Card Worthy, where she has posted a Color & Texture Challenge #1. I tried with this Lattebella card, but she really only wanted black, white, grey and silver. Hopefully she'll forgive me for going outside the boundaries! I think I got taken with the brown in the image, and decided to use coffee colored paper. It was fun to try, anyway!

Valentine

So, I've signed up to join the Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers, and found a great blog by Kelly. She has posted a challenge to make a masculine Valentine's card, so here's my attempt. I got the idea for strictly black and white with a splash of red from Suzanne Dean, although her challenge asks that you use stamps from her store. Unfortunately, I only found her blog and store recently, so I don't have any of her products yet! But I'm sure that will change. I just wanted the chance to try my hand at a great idea! I didn't have any black and white patterned paper, so I made my own by stamping my "XOXO" stamp with black on white paper. I love how it turned out!

Amy's Sketch #44

I was excited when Madison came home from school to tell us that her teacher is having a baby! I chose Amy's Sketch #44 to make her a nice, simple card.
It seemed a great choice! The baby is due in July, so hopefully she'll get to finish out the school year. So far she's felt good, just tired. I think all mothers can relate to that!

This was a fun card to make as I used one of my new stamps from Stamping Bella called Pregabella. Isn't she great? I did a little paper piecing for her pants, just to make it fun.
Inside the card, I stamped my favorite saying. I was so glad to find this stamp!

So many of the blogs that I read, people are sick or just getting over something. I am happy to say that I finally feel like I'm returning to normal. I haven't missed work, but I sure have been struggling with my health. My husband is trying really hard to get over his sore back. Hopefully he'll be able to return to work soon. The weather is cooperating and it's finally warm! Gotta love those chinooks!

The best Mom....

Okay, I'll admit it, I have a wonderful Mom. For my 40th, she made me the most beautiful quilt. It was made out of my favorite colors, especially purple, from my favorite fabrics: batik, and you can learn more about it HERE. Although I don't quilt, I have always loved the vibrant colors of batik fabric. Mom has been quilting for about 20 years now, and her projects always turn out amazing. The only thing she doesn't have is a long-arm quilting machine, so she always has someone else do the machine quilting at the end. I am so proud of the work she does.


A few years ago, I tried to help her clean out some of her stash, and like a true quilter, every piece of fabric was one she loved. She could tell me why she loved each piece, and what she planned to do with it someday. Anyway, it doesn't matter how much fabric she has if she continues doing fabulous quilts like mine!

Despite the fact that other things happened to make my birthday not the greatest, my friends and family have made up for it. My co-workers bought me lunch and made me a GLUTEN FREE dessert since I have CELIAC DISEASE. My mother-in-law made supper and brought it to our house since Madi was still sick on the weekend, and my parents took Madi and I out for supper with my sister and my grandma. All in all, it makes me thankful for all the love of those around me. Hope you have people in your life to do the same for you.

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #49

Well, I survived my 40th Birthday, although it wasn't the best weekend. My daughter is finally getting over a cold with a high fever just in time to go back to school, and my husband is in the hospital because he's hurt his back. I know he's getting the very best care, but I wish he was home. Not the best end to the holiday season to say the least.

Anyway, to cheer myself up, I wanted to try Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #49 from her blog Taylored Expressions. This lady is so talented! Amy's Sketch #42

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We have had such a terrific holiday season in our house, and in a few short hours, I will celebrate my 40th! Hard to believe that I'm going to be 40, but I am not freaked out by it or anything. I'm happy with my life and where I'm going, so getting older doesn't bother me.

Here's Amy's Sketch #42, which she has given us two weeks to try!

I had a card completed last week, but I somehow missed getting a picture of it before I gave it away! Here's my new attempt, and I was so excited to use my Cupcake Occasions set I just received from All That Scraps! The stamp sets that Amy has been showcasing on her blog have inspired me, so now I have a couple of my own.
